Photographer Mike Drew hits southern Albertas back roads in search of spring — and he most certainly found it, up close and personal.

It was a world of white out in the foothills. Or, maybe more accurately, a world of grey, as a thick, cold fog had settled over it all.

Photographer Mike Drew enjoyed all the ice and snow that covered southern Alberta in the last week, but hes not ready for winter just yet.

I got to see all those elk and a lovely sunrise and deer and gorgeous autumn leaves. And, yeah, quite a bit of bright, fresh snow.

It’s probably not true but it seems like this winter has been much snowier than winters past.

A flock of ducks near the Bow River in Calgary put on a comical parade — just as photographer Mike Drew was there to take it all in.

It actually looked kinda serene in the blue light of dusk, at peace. It was gone now, its former form as an elk done.
