A Gentiana flower discovered in Tibet has been dubbed the world's shiest flower for its ability to close in as little as seven seconds after being touched.

24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese researchers have discovered the worlds "shiest" flower, which can close within seven seconds after being touched, on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, known as "the roof of the world."

Chinese scientists have discovered four species of Gentiana on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau whose flowers can close within seconds of being touched.

The discoveries were made during the ongoing second Tibetan Plateau Scientific Expedition and Research mission, which began in August 2017.
