WCAX News has learned new details about a gas tanker fire in Ferrisburgh, but it's not clear whether any Vermont agency is investigating and what's being done to prevent similar incidents.

Officials said the compressed natural gas being carried within the tanker did not explode due to a safety measure on the commercial vehicle designed to off-gas contents in a controlled manner in case of a fire.

The man, 52, of Dansville, was alone in a vehicle that veered off Dakin Road and hit a tree about 2:30 p.m., the Ingham County Sheriffs Office said.
