Trader Joe’s announced a banana price increase of its iconic 19 cent bananas sold individually, the new price is 23 cents per piece.

The price tag of the potassium rich fruit has gone up by 20%.

The average price of bananas in the US has remained steady from February 2023 to February 2024, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, at 62 to 64 cents a pound throughout the year.

Trader Joe's bananas now cost 23 cents each. The retailer sold them at 19 cents for more than two decades.

For the first time in store history, Trader Joe's has raised the price of their bananas. The banana has had the same 19-cent price tag at the grocery store chain for 25 years, but inflation has hit even staple items, leading to a 20% price hike.

Bananas no longer cost 19 cents apiece at Trader Joe's after the chain raised the price to 23 cents after keeping it steady for 20 years.
