Keep El Dorado Beautiful has temporarily suspended its cash-incentive, cleanup program due to a lack of funding.

Keep El Dorado Beautiful is rounding out the year on a high note and the group hopes to take the momentum it has built for its cleanup efforts into the new year.

There are three slots left for volunteer teams who would like to participate in the Ward 4 community cleanup, which is set for 9 a.m. Saturday, and receive some cash for their work.

Keep El Dorado Beautiful has worked with El Dorado City Council members to coordinate two ward cleanups this year and the effort has been placed on hiatus until the fall.

The 4th annual Healthworks Fitness Center Boomtown 5k Run & 2 Mile Walk was held on Saturday, April 15. Proceeds from the race benefitted the Rock Steady Boxing program, which is a non-contact boxing based fitness program designed to fight the progression of Parkinsons disease. The top runners were overall female winner Jessica Arnold and overall male winner Dalton Dobbins. The top walkers were overall female winner Laurie May and overall male winner Dan Roblee.

Weather permitting, Ward 3 will host a community cleanup at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, and organizers are encouraging the public, particularly residents of Ward 3, to participate.

Now that the Arkansas Governors Conference on Tourism is over, Keep El Dorado Beautiful is setting its sights on other projects.
