VALLEY CITY, N.D. (vcsusvikings.com) – The Valley City State volleyball team dropped three close sets to Dakota State Friday night, 25-22, 25-20, 25-17.
Valley City State falls to 4-14 overall and 3-6 in the NSAA. Dakota State improves to 10-5 overall and 6-2 in the conference.
Valley City State totaled 10 blocks in Friday’s game, led by six from Caitlyn Fischbach. Dakota State outhit the Vikings though, tallying 39 kills to Valley City State’s 30 kills on the night. The Trojans also tallied 11 ace serves as a team Friday.
The Vikings were led by nine kills and eight digs from Katie Juarez. Caitlyn Fischbach added six kills, six blocks, and eight digs Friday. Maara Nelson and Dani Schwanke each tallied nine digs for the Vikings while Jakenda Short added eight digs and nine set assists. Kallene Klever finished with 17 assists for VCSU.

The Vikings fall to 4-13 overall and post a 3-5 conference record. No. 1 Jamestown improves to 21-1 overall.
Valley City State recorded 10 blocks to the Jimmies’ five blocks Tuesday. The Vikings couldn’t keep up with nationally-ranked Jamestown though, as the Jimmies tallied 39 kills, 48 digs, and seven ace serves to VCSU’s 25 kills, 32 digs, and one ace serve.
Bailey Nelson and Katie Juarez each tallied six kills for the Vikings Tuesday, while Caitlyn Fischbach and Clara Wieland each finished with five kills. Fischbach added a game-high seven blocks at the net for the Vikings.

FOREST CITY, IOWA – The Valley City State women’s basketball team sank five of six free throws in the final 30 seconds of the game to defeat Waldorf Saturday, 73-70.
Macey Kvilvang posted a big double-double for the Vikings, scoring a career-high 28 points and pulling down 12 rebounds in the win. Maara Nelson added 18 points and five rebounds Saturday.
Valley City State improves to 7-10 overall and 5-6 in the NSAA. Waldorf drops to 1-16 overall and 1-10 in the conference.
