Thousands of drivers travel across the Mississippi River every day and many people are wondering, with the bridge collapse in Baltimore Tuesday morning, if something similar could happen in the St. Louis area.

The Mississippi River has reached a new low the United States Coast Guard says we haven’t seen in years.

Several Coast Guard officers with responsibilities in Sector Upper Mississippi received promotions in a recent change of command ceremony.

A meeting was held in St. Louis to provide industry feedback on ways to avoid rail/barge incidents and update Lock and Dam 25 progress.
