In an off year in the election cycle, Downriver voters in seven communities took to the polls on Tuesday to elect their leaders. In some cases it was out with the old and in with the new, while other communities returned most of the incumbents.

“I’m not saying what I did was right, but I was frustrated that my signs were showing up missing,” said Councilman Gary Schlack. “Frustration got the best of me.”

An Allen Park councilman is stirring a major controversy in local political circles after he was caught on a Ring camera tampering with campaign signs.

A tradition that began in 2007 will continue next week when students at Allen Park High School sponsor a forum designed to provide more information to voters about the upcoming election.
