CROWN POINT, Ind. (AP) — A murder suspect who escaped from a prisoner transport van last year when its driver stopped at a fast-food restaurant in northwest Indiana will stand trial in January in a Chicago man's slaying.

The Lake County Board of Commissioners approved sending a letter to REDI Transports to reimburse the county for the capture of a murder suspect who escaped when a private driver extraditing him stopped at a Gary McDonald’s.
