PEARCY — For now, El Dorado’s hopes of advancing to the state tournament are still alive.

El Dorado bounced back from a tough loss in resounding fashion by banging out 13 hits en route to a 17-1 win over Hot Springs in 5A South play on Tuesday.

After scoring 27 runs in their last three games, El Dorado was limited to just two hits in a 6-3 loss to Bryant Thursday at the El Dorado/Union County Recreation Complex.

Heading into the season, El Dorado coach Jeff Burson said he was counting on a number of freshmen to help shoulder the load on the pitching staff.

With only eight upperclassmen on their roster, a youth movement is in full swing at El Dorado.

After being held to two runs last week by Texarkana, El Dorado’s offense sprang to life, delivering a six-run fourth inning to pull away for a 13-1 win over Rison at the El Dorado/Union County Recreation Complex on Monday.

A year ago, El Dorado qualified for the state tournament for the first time since 2018 and racked up 21 wins en route to a three-way share of the 5A South title.
