An Austin man has been convicted of capital murder for two shooting deaths in New Braunfels in Aug. 2020.

It was a deadly year for homicides in New Braunfels and Comal County, which together totaled seven murders for 2020, according to nationwide crime statistics released Monday.

According to one resident, New Braunfels police said the Champions Village subdivision never registered a bleep on the city’s crime monitor. “You could count the numbers of crimes on one hand — minus some fingers,” he said.
