Closing arguments wrapped up and jury deliberation began Thursday in the trial of Bravon Tukes, who is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deadly shooting at Starts Right Here in January.

Tukes was found not guilty of two counts of first-degree murder and one count each of attempted murder, willful injury causing serious injury and criminal gang participation.

Preston Walls was convicted of fatally shooting Rashad Carr, 16, and Gionni Dameron, 18, on Jan. 23 at Starts Right Here in Des Moines.

In his last days of school, Preston Walls testified he thought people were after him, he said in his own defense at his murder trial Monday.

After a Des Moines officer described his K9 unit as having caught the 'bad guy,' attorneys for Preston Walls asked the judge to call a mistrial.
