An NDSU doctoral student is making waves in the biomedical engineering field. Mahek Sadiq has helped develop a cancer detection technology working with two-dimensional nanomaterials.

It could forever change the world of medicine, and potentially save lives. Researchers at North Dakota State University are using artificial intelligence to detect things like diabetes and cancer much earlier. We find out how it works, and explain when this emerging technology could be in the hands of patients.

The project's aim is to integrate artificial intelligence and sensor technology into a sort of Type 2 diabetes predictor using a person's breath.

The project is a collaboration between six universities and several private-sector partners in North Dakota, Alabama and Arkansas.
