The Jackson State women's basketball team begins its bid for a fifth consecutive SWAC regular-season title at home Saturday against Alcorn State.

The Jackson State women's basketball team were picked to win the SWAC today as the conference released their Preseason Awards. Junior guard and Meridian native Ti'lan Boler of JSU was picked as the preseason player of the year. She leads two other Tigers who earned preseason honors. Senior centers Angel Jackson was tabbed as the preseason Defensive Player of the Year and was second team selection. She joins fellow JSU center Daphane White as a SWAC second team pick as well.

Kylen Milton scored 21 points and Shaun Doss Jr. had 18 more, but the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Golden Lions fell to the Jackson State University Tigers 67-63 at home Thursday for their eighth loss in a row.
