Pittsylvania County supervisors settled on a slightly lower tax rate Thursday afternoon for the upcoming fiscal year, but one that will still mean residents will pay more following a reassessment process.

The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors met Thursday for a called meeting to approve the budget for Fiscal Year 2025.

A total of 22 different speakers appeared Thursday night before the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors, many making a plea before the elected officials to scale back a proposed tax increase they called a "windfall" for the locality.

Pittsylvania County Administrator Stuart Turille is scheduled to present the 2024-25 fiscal year budget to the board of supervisors Tuesday afternoon, and board members will decide on a tax rate to advertise, one that will ultimately cost property owners more money.
