NYPD officer Troy Patterson, who spent more than half his life in a vegetative state after being shot during a failed robbery in Brooklyn, has died aged 60.

Patterson was off-duty and washing his car in Bedford-Stuyvesant in 1990 when he was shot during a botched robbery.
