A special Covid vaccination camp for physically and mentally challenged students and other differently abled persons from 18 to 44 year age group was organised on Wednesday at Pehla Kadam, a school for special students at Jagjivan Nagar, by Narayani Charitable Trust.
The camp, the first of its kind in the district, was launched on Wednesday morning at around 10 am in the presence of Deputy Development Commissioner, Dasrath Chandra Das and eminent physician, Dr Nirmal Drolia of Patliputra Nursing Home of Dhanbad.
District Reproductive and Child Health Officer of Dhanbad, Dr Vikash Kumar Rana who also visited the vaccination site and supervised the special session himself said, “It is first of its kind camp for special students of 18+ category in the district organised today with the Deputy Commissioner Uma Shankar Singh’s permission.”

Birsa Munda Park – the sole amusement park of Dhanbad, set over 24 acres of land in Nawadih is in poor condition due to poor maintenance and lack of income from ticket sales. The park, established in2009, had been closed for 11 months due to the pandemic.
As many as 27 employees of the park including 10 gardeners; two sweepers, ticket clerks, jhula operators, a manager, and 11 other park staff have not received their salary for the past three months.
Similar is the condition of the 12 food outlets situated inside the park. Even after the park reopening, around ten of them are lying closed, as the owners have been unable to pay the pending rent of 11 months. The park management has asked them to clear their dues for the ‘closure period’ too.
Children with mental disability and hearing impairment celebrated Christmas at Jeevan Jyoti School on Thursday in the presence of their parents and members of the Rotary Club of Dhanbad.
About 45 kids partook of delicacies like chhola bhatura, gajar ka halwa, cake, chocolates and potato chips and danced to Christmas carols.
The celebration began at around 11am and concluded at around 2: 30pm. The celebration was attended by chief guest Dasrath Chandra Das, Deputy Development Commissioner of Dhanbad. He presided over the gifting of a wheel chair to a physically disabled person on behalf of the Rotary Club.
Sanjay Khemka, president of Jeevan Jyoti Sanshan in his address apprised the chief guest of the range of activities for overall development of the special children besides education and vocational training.
