As of Oct. 1 last year, 73% of land in the Southwest was in some sort of drought. Flash forward to April and only 27% of that same region was impacted by drought.

Winter storms in the West helped less than one-quarter of the nation’s driest state remain in drought.

The storms that swept across the Western U.S. this winter dropped so much water that less than one-quarter of the nation’s driest state remains in drought.

The U.S. Drought Monitor says only 23% of Nevada remains in drought because storms dropped so much water this winter.

Water experts: Record snowfall and predicted runoff from creeks, streams and rivers has left much of the West in much better water shape than in recent years.
