Gary Brownstein, 3rd-generation member of the Jewish immigrant family that founded the iconic company in 1906, has charmed customers with creative specials like Mango Avocado Poke

Gary Brownstein, a grandson of Acme’s founder, innovated the inexpensive smoked fish specials that were available to the public just one day a week.

When Brownstein’s wife died earlier this year, many of the friends he made from Fish Fridays stopped by his house. “It was very touching.”
