First Foundation Inc. (Nasdaq: FFWM) hasn’t gotten the Texas welcome it expected when it officially moved its headquarters from Irvine to Dallas in 2021.

Driver Management Principal Abbott Cooper said the Dallas company failed to foresee the spate of interest rate hikes that have cut its profitability. Following the bank's latest rebuff, Cooper is threatening legal action.

NextGen Healthcare and First Foundation each previously shared a common HQ base at Irvine’s Lakeshore office complex along Von Karman Avenue, then each opted to relocate their HQs out of state in 2021.

The bank looked within its own ranks to find its next chief credit officer and to fill the newly created chief banking officer position. It continues a search for its next finance chief following a spate of departures.

The bank said Monday that its interim president and CFO had resigned. This followed the departure of its previous president earlier in November.

David DePillo stepped down not long after the company said it would tap the brakes on loan growth and focus on lagging deposit gathering.
