The Decatur City Commission will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 5 for its regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. There will also be a dinner session at 5:15 p.m. and a work session at 6:30 p.m. The meetings will be held in person at Decatur City Hall, 509 N. McDonough Street, and virtually via Zoom.

The Decatur City Commission, at its Sept. 5 regular meeting, approved an agreement with CGS LLC for about $124,329 for renovations to the dugouts at McKoy Park Field.

David Junger, Decatur’s new deputy city manager, has worked his way up the ranks in the city of Decatur throughout his 33-year career. He began working for the city as a police officer and is now the deputy city manager.

The Decatur Police Department will soon get new security cameras to be installed at the department. The city commission approved a contract with Johnson Controls worth $28,180.36 and approved a project budget of $30,000 for the improvements.

The city of Decatur and contractor AECOM held a meeting at North Decatur Presbyterian Church on June 21 to present a number of possible safety improvements to the intersection of North Decatur Road. and Superior Avenue, and along the corridor from Medlock Road to Clairmont Road.

Madeleine Henner will serve as the next executive director of Legacy Decatur. The Legacy Decatur Board appointed Henner to fill the role full time during its May 24 meeting.

The city of Decatur will move forward with intersection improvements at North Parkwood Road and East Lake Drive. The city plans to apply for permits through the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The 197 multicolored planters on West Howard Avenue are intended as a traffic-calming solution, but sometimes traffic and planters don't mix.

The Decatur City Commission, at its April 17 regular meeting, approved a memorandum of understanding with the Decatur Downtown Development Authority to hire off-duty police officers to provide supplemental security and law enforcement services within downtown Decatur. The program will begin on Tuesday, April 18.
