Tuesday’s nonpartisan municipal and sanitary district board elections brought out just 1,117 voters, a minuscule 3.49% of the 32,047 people who were eligible to vote.
Other than the usual “Vote Here” signs and rare candidate campaign signs, there was little to indicate that Tuesday was an election day in Wayne County.
As of Thursday evening, only 0.33% of the 32,051 people who are eligible to vote in Tuesday’s nonpartisan municipal and sanitary district elections had done so.
The early voting period is now open for residents eligible to vote in several nonpartisan municipal races and five sanitary districts planned on the November general election ballot.
