A German tourist was carried down a steep trail by a team of more than 20 rescuers in a marathon night rescue after being injured on a hike up Table Mountain.

A German hiker was rescued by helicopter after falling from a steep section of Lion’s Head in Cape Town on Tuesday.

Teams of rescuers from the Wilderness Search-and-Rescue unit have advised hikers to be cautious during winter.

Earlier on in the day, teams were also dispatched to the lower cable station after receiving reports that a hiker had injured himself on the India Venster hike.
