One of the Harris County criminal court judges will need a new election after a Bexar County judge ruled in the final pending civil lawsuit.

A judge ordered that a 2022 Texas judicial election must be redone after finding more than a thousand illegal ballots were cast.

HOUSTON -- A Texas judge has ruled in favor of a Republican candidate challenging the results in a 2022 judicial race and ordered that a new election be held in the nations third-most populous county, a Democratic stronghold thats been beset by GOP efforts to dictate how ballots are cast.

A visiting judge from Bexar County on Wednesday ordered a new election in Harris County's November 2022 180th District Court judicial race.

Democratic Judge DaSean Jones beat out Tami Pierce by 449 votes in 2022, prompting one of several election challenges filed by unsuccessful Republican candidates. Many other election challenges were dismissed.
