An Israeli company has teamed up with an Arizona aerospace firm on a long-term project to convert passenger aircraft to cargo use.

For Star subscribers: Tucson-based Ascent Aviation Services will add about 300 workers at its facility at Pinal Airpark to convert passenger airliners into cargo planes for an Israeli company.

Israel Aerospace Industries and Ascent Aviation Services in Marana are partnering up to convert Boeing 777s into freight aircraft. The move will bring hundreds of jobs to the area.

Israel Aerospace Industries has signed an agreement with Ascent Aviation Services that will see the U.S.-based MRO carry out passenger-to-freighter conversion services from its site in Arizona.
