Pella Public Library Kicks Off Second Outdoor Adventure Series Next Week

As the calendar turns to April, the tri-state area boasts another full slate of free activities.

The Okoboji View Wetland Complex is an example of how these projects often take years to come to fruition.

  June 18, 1935 - October 11, 2023   Memorial Services for Judith Murtagh Thoreson, 88, of Okoboji, formerly of Algona, will be held at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Algona at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023. A reception with the family present will be held following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall. A Celebration of Judy’s Life will be held in June of 2024 at Okoboji.

Against the backdrop of the beautiful waters of Iowa's West Lake Okoboji with a bright sunny sky and a gentle breeze, the 8th annual Okoboji Blue Water Festival held on Aug. 12 at Preservation Plaza continued to provide the public with both a celebration of clean water efforts and challenges to continue to address clean water issues.

Although littering happens all over, it seems that in the Iowa Great Lakes one of the worst areas is in Millers Bay on West Okoboji Lake during the summer.
