A group of New Hampshire gleaners — people who pick up leftover produce to share with those in need — say they are collecting thousands of pounds of produce each week to distribute to soup kitchens and pantries across Hillsborough County.

After 94 years of ownership, the Hills family sold Kimball Fruit Farm in Pepperell for almost $1.2 million, according to the Middlesex South District Registry of Deeds and an announcement on the farm’s website. Carl and Marie Hills, who have managed the farm since 1990, announced their retirement on Feb. 3, four days before the sale closed. The Hills family and its relatives have owned the farm since 1928.
