$25,000—that’s the average cost of raising and training a service dog in Montana, according to Dog Tag Buddies.

"Training a dog is hard," said Dog Tag Buddies executive director and founder Deede Baker. "Training a service dog is even harder."

On Wednesday, Governor Gianforte donated more than $20,000 from his annual salary to Dog Tag Buddies as a part of his annual 12 Days of Giving. The tradition began back in 2021.
