Rajendra Shah allegedly helped Taral Bhatt freeze over “600 bank accounts for gaining illegal financial benefits", the police said.

Suspended police inspector Taral Bhatt has been sent to judicial custody by a local court in Junagadh. Bhatt, along with two other accused, is involved in a bribery and extortion case. The investigation agency, ATS, is handling the case.

A preliminary inquiry using CCTV footage was carried out, with 96 statements registered, by the Gujarat ATS to establish that Gohil, through Bhatt, obtained various Excel sheets with suspicious transactions from the bank and froze those accounts to facilitate the money extortion onto people.

Citizens rely on law enforcement authorities to take action against any illegal activities. However, the baton-holders of law enforcement in Gujarat turned into lawbreakers themselves in a case of fetching hefty sums over unfreezing the illicitly frozen bank accounts.
