Canton receives over $1 million for Water Treatment Plant Improvement project Canton Daily Ledger CANTON One of the multiple goals of Canton Mayor Kent McDowell over the last few years has been to make much needed and necessary improvements at the City of Canton Water Treatment Plant. The hitch, as with most projects, has been cost. Earlier this week, McDowell was notified a grant they had applied for with the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) had been approved in the amount of $1,026,637. The money, which will be used for the City of Canton Water Treatment Plan Improvement Project, was also announced by  Trump Administration U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross.

(KMIZ) U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross reports that Jefferson City will receive a $1.5 million grant to support the commercial redevelopment of the historic Missouri State Penitentiary site. The Trump Administration is committed to helping American communities recover from, and build back stronger, following natural disasters, said Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. This project will address the regional need for economic development opportunities in the aftermath of the devastating floods and tornadoes of 2019. $1.6 million in local funds will match the grant and create up to 67 jobs and generate nearly $28 million in private investment.

The EDA grant, to be located in a Tax Cuts and Jobs ActOpportunity Zone, will be matched with $601,872 in local funds, is expected to create 66 jobs, retain 82 jobs, and generate $22.2 million in private investment.
