Octopus: Greta Thunberg's Pro-Palestine post sparks controversy over alleged anti-semitic symbol
Greta Thunberg removed a social media post expressing support for Palestine after criticism over a stuffed blue octopus visible in the photo. The stuffed animal shown in the post can be interpreted as a symbol for anti-Semitism. The use of an octopus as an anti-Semitic symbol dates back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Nazi propaganda depicted Jews as tentacled octopuses using their arms to manipulate finance, media, and politics.
