Derby Presented News Today

Keeneland’s 80th November Breeding Stock Sale concluded Thursday with solid results, which were driven by demand for quality from an internationally diverse buying bench that produced 12 seven-figure horses.

Keeneland has supplemented 10 horses, including 2023 stakes winner Lady Lowery, to Friday’s Horses of Racing Age Sale. A total of 330 horses – including 2022 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve winner Rich Strike, who will be offered as a stallion prospect – are cataloged to the single-session auction, which will begin at noon ET. 

BBA Ireland paid $2.1 million for the 10-year-old Galileo (IRE) mare White Hot (IRE), the dam of 2021 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) winner Pizza Bianca who is in foal to leading sire Into Mischief, to record the highest price of today’s Book 1 opening session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.

Keeneland has cataloged 3,569 horses for its 80th November Breeding Stock Sale, which will begin Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Case Clay Thoroughbred Management will consign Puca, who is carrying a full sibling to 2023 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve winner Mage, and Grade 1 winner and millionaire Dalika (GER), in foal to Horse of the Year Flightline for her first offspring, in a two-mare consignment at Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale on Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Keeneland’s 80th annual September Yearling Sale, a globally essential marketplace for Thoroughbred racing prospects, has cataloged 4,194 horses for a total of 12 sessions to be held Monday, Sept. 11 through Saturday, Sept. 23.
