A McHenry County judge Wednesday granted a default judgment ordering the developer of a stalled 100-unit apartment project in Fox River Grove to pay $145,000 to Ozinga Ready Mix Concrete Inc.

Contractors who began building a 100-unit Fox River Grove apartment complex in 2019, which has been stalled since last spring, said they are owed millions of dollars by the projects developer.

Despite a rise in property taxes, Fox River Grove residents are expected to pay slightly less in village taxes overall next year, village officials said.

The good news, Fox River Grove trustees relayed this week, is that the village could be getting a new sushi restaurant to replace the former Sticks Pub & Grub along Route 14. Unfortunately, other properties along Route 14 remain in limbo, including a section of village-owned property secured via eminent domain.
