With voter turnout of 25.8%, Yakima County has the lowest turnout in the state in the Nov. 7 general election, according to final results.

Challengers in Yakima City Council races maintained their leads as election officials counted more ballots Wednesday, with Yakima school board incumbents poised to keep their seats.

Results Tuesday night showed challengers leading in three races in the West Valley School District and close contests for two seats in the Selah School District.

School safety, staff retention and facility needs are important priorities for school districts in general, and all are getting closer attention within the Selah School District.
