Mount Airy High School's rising senior running back Tyler Mason committed to Virginia Tech at the Hokies' 2023 spring game. The HighSchoolOT First Team All-Stater is a 3-star prospect and the reigning 1A state championship game MVP. Mason's commitment comes just a couple of weeks after his teammate Deric Dandy pledged to the Hokies.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound junior is a 3-star prospect in the class of 2024. 247Sports ranked him as North Carolina's No. 24 player in the class.
