Except for getting a grueling stem cell transplant treatment, Fleming took little time off during her cancer battle to lead the Fargo public health response to the pandemic.
“My goal when I came here was to make sure that when I left it was better than when I came,” Desi Fleming told The Forum. “I do feel that I’ve accomplished that and that’s what I’m proud of.”
"I have felt so very fortunate to be a part of this community and within my role as a nurse and a leader to be able to make an impact on the health of many lives," Desi Fleming wrote.
