Desilting Work News Today

NMMC Commissioner Rajesh Narvekar emphasised the importance of being proactive and vigilant in order to prevent any potential disasters.

Engineers study how much silt needs to be lifted from nullahs and rivers and decide the target. This year the BMC set itself a target of 9,79, 882MT, to be achieved by May 31.

The desilting operations commence from the first week of April instead of 10, May, to ensure that the work is completed before 10, June.

It has been observed that residents living near the nullahs often throw waste into them, causing the garbage to accumulate in large quantities in nullahs that carry rainwater from the city to the sea.
