FG, states tasked to address inequality, access to coverageNigeria — The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

• Blame doctors’ strike on govt’s insincerity to the welfare of healthcare workers As the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to ravage the world 15 months after its outbreak, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has called on governments to build a fairer and healthier world for everyone through quality medical and pharmaceutical care. x Speaking on the World Health Day (WHD) marked today with the theme: ‘‘Building a fairer, healthier world’’ to highlight health inequities, WHO noted that the impact of the pandemic “has been harshest on communities, which were already vulnerable, who are more exposed to the disease, less likely to have access to quality healthcare services and more likely to experience adverse consequences as a result of measures implemented to contain the pandemic.”

World Health Day 2021: DevComs call Nigerian government to address health inequality

Share As Nigeria join to celebrate the 2021 World Health Day the governments at all levels in the country has been called to, as a matter of necessity to provide equitable health care coverage to all citizens in order to reduce the impact of health emergencies on Nigerians. The call became necessary considering that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has shown the fragile nature of health care services and coverage in the country a situation that has been worsened by the ongoing strike by resident doctors across the country. This was contained in a statement by DevComs made available to Journalists in Bauchi stating that actions of the Resident Doctors are a direct result of age-long disagreements with the government, an action that impacts more on vulnerable groups across the country.
