Whats been going on in my district and ingleside station thats been actively involved in the relationships that have been coming together around the phenomenon of our gambling corridor along mission street. And i met about two weeks ago with the District Attorney, with mr. Gas cone and his staff, london ~ lonnie doing work in the enforcement office. We thought about having a new structure there where she would be the project manager, but overseeing the systemic approach of how were going to be able to do the enforcement, the policing and Community Building effort to create safety in the corridor. There are a number of like empty store fronts that have been taken over by places where there seems to be gambling going on. Its been hard to investigate and detect and to actually find. So, if he we could have a [speaker not understood], database. Your department is involved in that, but i want to make sure we actually do make we create a real systemic approach for this part of San Francisco
Department, but, with the ability that with more space, to be able to expand on what permits are facilitated through there and this is all in the very beginning, you know, stages, and so, i am or will be attending these meetings and representing, the office of Small Business, and oewd to figure out our role and integration and also, having kind of a Customer Service perspective, so, i just want to let you know that that is in or is just starting to be discussed. And and what i have attended one meeting and we are touching on some of the larger structural things, right now. And components but, we will soon be getting into kind of the programming of the facility, and with the bottom two floors being the permit what they are calling the permitting center. Yeah, i just want to say that is so smart. Because i know that if you deal with dbi or the permit, you know, i know that you get your older permits on the ground floor but anything else you are up on the fourth or the fifth floor in the

Last week in the last few weeks there was a registered sex offender actually found to be trying to pick up a street hail so this is a real concern to us when private vehicles that are not clearly marked are providing services so we know the values of Good Customer Service and non discrimination. All customers are required to be served in the taxi industry, all neighborhoods are required to be served. We can do better on that. All cabs are required to accept credit cards and debit cards and then theres the clear and fair structure. Accessibility taxis have been part of our para Transit Program since 1981 so we have a long history in working with them and weve had Wheelchair Accessible taxis since is the 1994. If there were no para Transit Service we estimate it would cost the city approximately 6 million more in those para transit trips to be provided on vans. We talked ability the clean area requirements and the fact that many 7 them are low [inaudible] program. Also,
Needs to be cleaned up. I want to acknowledge a miss statement in that is included well its not necessarily a miss statement theres an uncertainty who is responsible for the area immediately adjacent to where the box it is proposed in at t brief theyve included an email stating this is a paper street so the adjacent Property Owner is responsible for the maintenance we believe thats true, however, weve found inconsistent in our record were in the process of confirming with the City Attorneys Office to get the original ordinance it refers to a list of locations we believe that this location is not on the list that were accepted for maintenance we have consistence we have a record it shows the paper street is dpws responsibility it has no direct bearing on the decision tonight because whether its dpws or the adjacent Property Owners responsibility it should be cleaned up but i dont know that it makes a determination of the safety of the at ts facilities i will lastly state the landslide t
And the Public Benefits such as transportation and Public Benefits such as open space, such as, economic development. Which is kind of the over arching umbrella of this thing when you put it in perspective and so right now to aoe the sfmta has the mlu with the office, and that document itself is what it is doing, and it is facilitating and what is considered phase one of the process, which is the community out reach and the Public Participation, and it is probably a year long process to which we are going to the various agency and boards and commissions and do the commenttations and inform them about the program over all as i get the move along sign here.
