Abandoned, animals that are being mistreated, in distress, and making sure that other animals are cared for and hopefully ultimately adopted out. Animal care and control is a safety net agency. It doesnt get to pick and choose which animals it takes in. And, so, you have a lot of animals who are difficult to adopt out. Yet animal care controls budget appears to be highly inadequate to provide the level of care that we in this animal friendly city expect for animals in need. In addition, the department has very few enforcement officers who are able to go out into the field. Whether to respond to claims of mistreatment or neglected animals or to deal with potentially aggressive animals. Weve been seeing more complaints in dog parks from dog owners who state that other dogs are aggressive toward their dogs. Animal care control has few resources, but its really not possible for their agency to stay on top of those complaints and do an effective job monitoring and enforcing. So, the hearing
Closed well open up for commissioners questions and comments. Commissioner antonini . I have some questions in general about this document. There is a different between city owned medical facilities and noncity owned medical facilities. I guess my concern is that we talk about this eligible for Development Initiative and some things that would have to be met by institutions that qualify in terms of Square Footage New Buildings or additions. But, my concern is this where would this go . An example was brought up to changing a medical facility to pool hall. Im concerned about a medical facility who wanted to locate on the siting by the corridor on the street where you are told you cant do that because there are too many medical institutions. Many of our hospitals do not just deal with San Francisco residents. Many people come from outside the city for services at ucsf and kaiser and even as a dentist i have 30 percent of my patients who reside outside of San Francisco. The needs of a par
Ms. Ellis that were taken in august of 2013. However, i want the commission to know and understand that all actions were based on exhaustive and independent puc investigation where we carefully weighed the facts and the mitigating circumstances. Recently, in january 2014 with your commission and the fppc, reached a joint Settlement Agreement with ms. Ellis. Your investigation did not present any new information or contradict any information related to the puc investigation. I cannot revisit disciplinary actions that i took nor i see any reason to do so. I believe appropriate actions were taken on all fronts and this matter is concluded. I hope that the commission, as i do, that this is simply time to move on and thank you for hearing me. [cheering and applauding] good afternoon, commissioners. Supervisor john avalos. I am here to speak on the same matter as well. I know that the Ethics Commission has already made its determination on the individual who is being discussed today. It seem
