A 16-year-old boy found with an automatic pistol shortly after a drive-by shooting last week in St. Paul is now facing weapons charges.

A member of Devin Scott’s family is weighing in on how St. Paul schools should keep kids safer.

The teen is not charged with any direct involvement in the shooting outside the funeral for Devin Scott, according to a juvenile petition.

Andrew Banker said when he was a teacher, he had to help call for help when a student brought a loaded gun to school last April.

The Uvalde Foundation for Kids, a nonprofit formed after the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, will be investigating three St. Paul schools in the wake of recent violence. 

Most recently, a drive-by shooting injured three teenagers attending a funeral reception for 15-year-old Devin Scott at the Wellstone Community Center on the city's West Side.

The St. Paul School District will hold a listening session on school safety Tuesday afternoon after a fatal stabbing of 15-year-old Devin Scott inside Harding High School earlier this month.

The charges offer neither a motive for the gunfire or whether this defendant or someone else did the shooting.

Prosecutors filed charges against a 16-year-old boy in connection to a shooting that injured three people during a memorial service for Harding High School student Devin Scott.

"I volunteered at the Harding High School when we had the killing of Devin Scott and that was heartbreaking," said Rev. Patterson.
