Devon Cathey, who shot 33-year-old Nicklas Sellars in his tent on Oct. 18, 2022, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, use of a firearm while committing the crime and witness or victim intimidation. Had Cathey been convicted of first-degree murder during a trial, he would have faced a 25 to life sentence. 

Devon Cathey pleaded guilty to killing 33-year-old Nicklas Sellars in his tent on Oct. 18, 2022, via voluntary manslaughter and use of a firearm when committing a felony.

The attorneys are going over the motions in limine – the ground rules over which evidence the jury gets to see – and the jury has not been assembled to determine whether or not Devon Cathey fatally shot 33-year-old Nicklas Sellars in his tent on Oct. 18, 2022.
