Morbi bridge collapse: Gujarat High Court has dismissed the regular bail plea of Jaysukh Patel, CMD of Oreva Group, the prime accused in the October 2022 Morbi suspension bridge collapse that claimed 135 lives. Justice Divyesh Joshi stated, "The application is dismissed," maintaining Patels incarceration since his surrender in January. Patel faces charges under IPC sections related to culpable homicide, endangering human life, and causing grievous hurt.

The Gujarat High Court on Tuesday rejected the regular bail plea of Oreva Group CMD Jaysukh Patel, the main accused in the October 2022 Morbi suspension bridge collapse which claimed 135 lives.

The group had sub-contracted the renovation and given the responsibility of fixing the bridge to Dhrangadhra-based firm DevPrakash Solutions.

Almost a week after the Morbi bridge collapse that killed around 140 people, glaring loopholes on the part of the company – Oreva Group – that was given the contract to refurbish the bridge, have come to light.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday inspected the bridge collapse site in the western state of Gujarat where more than 100 people were killed, officials said.
