Step into a DFAC (Dining Facility or cafeteria) on an Army post and you may overhear a soldier talk about the FOB (Forward Operating Base) they were at during their last deployment and whether the air conditioner worked in their CHU (Containerized Housing Unit or trailer.)  And now there’s this tongue twister: CNIDODCCSAAPWSVCSA. It refers to the just-formed “Commission on the Naming of Items of the Department of Defense that Commemorates the Confederate States of America or Any Person Who...

Korea could get together to discuss cross border issues. that is where president trump and kim jong-un and moon jae-in will meet. its where all of the american presidents go when they go to visit the dmz. most of american presidents pick up a pair of binoculars and look across the dmz. president trump chose not to on this particular visit. but where hes going now is the dining facility where hes going to meet with some of the service members who are posted along the demilitarized zone. both amer...

Jon: president trump in the dining facility on the demilitarized zone between north and south korea. hes meeting with some of the u.s. and south korean troops based in that uneasy area keeping the peace and trying to keep hostilities from the 1950s from recurring. we heard the president say hell be meeting with kim jong-un in four minutes as he signs one of the bricks on the wall with that distinctive and famous signature. he said he would be meeting chairman kim in four minutes and that was fou...

Handshake, maybe hell come and maybe he wont. kind of interesting the way hes handling this particular meeting. let me interrupt myself and say these are live pictures of the president arriving in the depac, the dining facility at the dmz where american troops take their meals. the forces there giving the president a warm welcome. hell shake some hands. these are photos that will probably go up on a lot of walls. there are some of the south korean forces assembled as well. lets listen to see i...

The schedule was the battle schedule and the place they eat is dfac and a dining facility instead of where where they have lunch. that struck me. look, the conditions in camp are good, and they should be because it is america, but when you arek talking to the emergency manager of the camp, he says i wish that i was not doing this. when with i designed these camps for disaster areas, im a hero, and today, im a villain. so it is the thin line of the people carrying out the policies. >> and you is ...

As a direct result of the trump administrations zero tolerance policy. i can tell you that the kids are not staying in tents like you go camping in. these are military tents with insulation and air conditioning. there is a dining facility and medical area. there are always mental health clinicals on the campus 24 hours a day. a few kids were waiting to go to showers. we saw other kids outside playing soccer. they talked to us a bit. this is like the other tours where all of the pictures are comi...

Very well run. we were able to walk around and see the kids. they walk around in groups of 20 based on the tent theyre in. alpha 1 through 20, the dining facility, so the kids are really on this governmental sort of semimilitary compound. >> your father, i know that it was probably pretty difficult to walk through there and see some of these kids separated from their parents. what stood out to you most when you were walking through there? and i want you to make a comment on a tweet you made, as ...

Different ball game. they line everybody up in a group. they get a minute to meet with their lawyer. theyre asked how do you plead? everybody says in unison, si. its a system run by a rich white man. thats just the reality here on the ground and this idea somehow, oh, you dont necessarily have to see a judge in order to get due process is completely crazy because what these kids are seeing is a military installation where the tents are labelled alpha 1, alpha 2, up to 11. the dining facility is ...

Its about mental health. the president is on the move was next up. john roberts reports to us from south korea. hi, john. >> good morning to you, shannon. not sure why we lost the shot of camp humphreys. everything was looking great but it went away. here we are back with you in seoul. the president landed at an airbase south of seoul a short time ago and flew from there to camp humphreys. hes going to meet in the dining facility there with some of the men and women, some of the 37,500 u.s. forc...
