Sudbury MPP West says Conservatives withholding badly needed investment in healthcare system

Staffing shortage leaves many parents without a daycare spot for kids

The Afro Women and Youth Foundation is launching a new campaign on Feb. 13 in Sudbury to address anti-Black racism.

Child care workers will be rallying across Ontario Wednesday, calling for better pay to keep daycare centres properly staffed. Educators in the north say the high turnover will keep families from getting the much-anticipated $10 dollar per day care.

There are still a few more weeks left before daycare operators have to decide if they want to opt-in to Ontario's new $10 a day child care program, but hundreds of families in Sudbury have already been saving on fees.

An early childhood educator from Sudbury says she has been waiting more than 30 years for Ontario to get affordable child care.
