NC State was the biggest mover of the week following a nine spot improvement. The Wolfpack added three top-10 nationally ranked marks at the Camel City Invitational. Individually,
Hannah Steelman notched the seventh best time in the 3000 (9:00.70c/9:05.33) and
Kelsey Chimel ran the 10th fastest 5000 (15:50.94c/15:58.22). The Wolfpack DMR ran 11:08.74 (11:15.90) for the No. 8 time on the Descending Order List, finishing second to
Virginia Tech (No. 6, 11:04.66c/11:11.78) and ahead of third place
West Virginia (No. 10, 11:09.64c/11:16.81).
Kansas State improved their ranking by three spots to No. 22. The top Wildcat from their own KSU Steve Miller Invitational was
Taylor Latimer with the No. 16 mark in the shot put.
We’ll start with what happened in Lubbock, Texas. That’s where
Texas Tech, now ranked seventh after a three-spot jump from No. 10, turned in an incredible solo effort in the DMR to own the … You guessed it: No. 7 spot on the Descending Order List. The Red Raiders foursome got the baton around in 9:36.72, which down converts to 9:32.06 due to altitude.
Cincinnati is the Biggest Mover of the Week thanks to a 19-spot improvement from No. 38 to No. 19.
Aaron Bienenfield and
Alec Sandusky starred at the Camel City Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where they moved up to No. 4 and No. 5 on the Descending Order List in the 5000 at 13:33.18 (13:41.89) and 13:34.30 (13:43.02), respectively. Even without the generous conversion from being contested on a 200-meter flat track, those marks would still reside in the national top-15 at No. 10 and No. 12, respectively.
One week before the 2021 ASUN Indoor Track & Field Championships, Liberty will send six athletes to the Virginia Tech Challenge. Chelsea Igberaese, Makenzy Mizera, Alexis Rolan, Jose Ballivian, Warren Barrett and Kyle Mitchell are set to compete in the meet, Friday and Saturday at Rector Field House in Blacksburg, Va.
Rolan will be the first Flame in action, racing in the women s 60 dash prelims Friday at 6:05 p.m. On Saturday, the men s shot put (Ballivian, Barrett and Mitchell) is set to begin at noon.
