A reminder, Belarus was elected to the Executive Board of the World Health Organization at the 74th session of the World Health Assembly in May 2021. Belarusian Healthcare Minister Dmitry Pinevich was appointed member of the Executive Board.

Dmitry Pinevich said: “We bottle the Sputnik V vaccine together with Russian companies. We will fully localize Sputnik V production next year. I don't want to go into details but during a break we had a number of negotiations with developers of other vaccines, who would like to localize or jointly develop various vaccine products.”

“We see from open sources that this variant is not more severe than Delta. It spreads faster, to put it simply, but it does not pose a higher risk than the Delta variant,” Dmitry Pinevich said.

“The number of confirmed cases and the hospital admission rate of people diagnosed with COVID-19 pneumonia in Belarus are now 30% below the peak of the latest coronavirus wave. Therefore, healthcare facilities are resuming en masse the provision of routine medical care in line with their specialization,” the minister said.
