The Dodge Momentum Index (DMI) fell 8.4% in January to 201.5 (2000=100)  from the revised December reading of 220.0.

According to the Dodge Construction Network, commercial and institutional planning rose for third consecutive month in November. 

The Dodge Momentum Index continued to climb in October, improving 9.6 percent to 199.7, compared to 182.2 in September. The commercial component increased the most at 13 percent. 

The Dodge Momentum Index, a monthly measure of the initial report for nonresidential building projects, improved 5.7 percent in September from the revised August reading. In September, the commercial component of the index rose 2.9 percent, while the institutional component also increased, seeing a double-digit gain of 11.7 percent.

As a result of stunted institutional planning, the Dodge Momentum Index fell by 1.2 percent in August to 171.9 from the revised July figure of 174.0.

The Dodge Momentum Index jumped 7 percent in May to 176.2 (2000=100), up from the revised April reading of 165.2.

Commercial and institutional planning both higher during the month

The Dodge Momentum Index moved 4 percent higher in March to 166.9 (2000=100), up from the revised February reading of 160.3. The Momentum Index, issued by Dodge Construction Network, is a monthly measure of the initial report for nonresidential building projects in planning, which have been shown to lead construction spending for nonresidential buildings by a full year.

The Dodge Momentum Index fell 3 percent in December to 166.4 (2000=100), down from the revised November reading of 170.7.
