Indiana Sire Stakes continued on Friday, Oct. 7 at Harrah’s Hoosier Park Racing & Casino as the three-year-old pacers competed in their eighth and final leg.

In a week filled with Indiana Sire Stakes action, it was the two-year-old trotting fillies who stepped into the spotlight first. Three divisions of the first of six Indiana Sire Stakes legs for the freshman trotting fillies highlighted Tuesday evening's 13-race card. 

Trevor Smith guided Rose Run Vision to a mild 1:52.3 upset in the $30,000 Mares Open Pace at Miami Valley on Tuesday (Jan. 18), a day which also saw 18-year-old Clayton Pfeifer win his first race at a commercial track.

The highly competitive weekly Hollywood Dayton $30,000 Mares Open produced yet another winner on Thursday as Rose Run Vision triumphed in 1:53.

Four-year-old trotting mares blew up the toteboard at Miami Valley on Tuesday (March 9) in the $25,000 championship leg of the Ray Paver Sr. Memorial Series. Miss Smead was the first to reach the wire in 1:55.3. The daughter of Guccio was followed across the line by fellow four-year-old mares Susie D, Swan Fashion, Just For Us and Deswanslittlelorie. Its A Herbie overcame an uncovered overland journey to win Miami Valley’s $22,500 Open Trot on Tuesday (Feb. 9) for the second straight week. Trainer-driver LeWayne Miller has the five-year-old son of Here Comes Herbie in fine form for owner Verlin Yoder, who lives and trains the rest of his stable in Florida in the winter months.
