A 15-year-old boy is behind bars in Chesapeake after police say he killed his adoptive parents with “a knife and/or hammer.”

A neighbor said the deceased couple had three adopted children in total. The accused teenager is facing murder charges.

Virginia police charged the 15-year-old boy with two counts of aggravated murder.

The parents have since been identified as 61-year-old Donna Daugherty and 60-year-old John Daugherty. They both lived in the 1800 block of Peartree Street
